How to Buy a Domain Name on IONOS

Follow these easy steps to get your own website address (domain)

What is a domain name?

A domain name is your website’s address — what people type to find you online.

For example: www.the-barge-hertford.co.uk

It’s like your venue’s sign on the internet.

1. Go to the IONOS website

Visit ionos.co.uk/domains/domain-names.

2. Search for your name

In the search box, type the name you’d like for your website (for example, mygreatpub or thefoxbar).

Click Check to see if it’s available.

3. Choose your domain

If your exact name is taken, you’ll see similar options (like .co.uk or .com).

Pick one you like and click Add to basket.

4. Go to checkout

Click Continue or Go to basket.

5. Choose any extras you want

You’ll see a few extra options such as Email, Web Hosting, or MyWebsite.

• If you’d like a custom email address like info@foxandhoundslondon.com, choose the Email option and click Add to basket.
• If you only want to buy the domain name, click Domain only, then hit Continue.
• You can ignore Web Hosting and MyWebsite as My Place includes those.

6. Review and checkout

You can now review your basket, create an account, and complete checkout.

8. You’re done!

You’ll get an email from IONOS confirming your domain.

Keep it safe — you’ll need these details to connect your domain to your website later.
